David Schwartz is an IP leader and partner in the Ottawa office of Smart & Biggar with over 25 years of experience specialising in patent law in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemistry and plant breeders’ rights. He advises clients on regulatory matters relating to the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, data protection under the Food and Drug Regulations and matters concerning the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board. He has testified on Canadian patent law reform in the House of Commons and the Senate. He is past president of the IP Institute of Canada.
