David Schwartz is a partner in the Ottawa office of Smart & Biggar. His practice focuses on patent law, particularly in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and chemistry. He advises clients on regulatory matters relating to the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, data protection under the Food and Drug Regulations and matters concerning the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board. He has testified on Canadian patent law reform in the House of Commons and the Senate. He is Past-President of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
