Thank you to everyone who attended our launch party

The multiplatform programme was launched on the evening of April 24, 2019, with a reception at Boston’s superb Ritz-Carlton Hotel. This two-hour long reception party presented a series of guest speakers, sharing their experiences as women in IP, and contributing their advice on how best to empower women in the sector. The Launch reception took place from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

Dale Cendali is a partner at Kirkland & Ellis and the head of its copyright, trademark, internet and advertising group. During her 30-year career, she has counselled clients on disputes involving all forms of intellectual property, and has litigated some of the most high-profile cases in the country. Among her litigation experiences, she has argued before the US Supreme Court, procured and defeated multiple injunction requests, and won numerous cases on summary judgment and at trial. Of note, she won the well-publicised “Lexicon” fair use case for her long-time client J.K. Rowling. She also is an adjunct professor at Harvard Law School, where she teaches copyright and trademark litigation.

Since joining Kirkland & Ellis last year, Katie Coltart—alongside two other partners—has successfully built Kirkland’s IP litigation practice, from scratch, in London. She has extensive trial experience and, with a background in biochemistry, Coltart is well-placed to assist clients with complex and technical patent disputes in life sciences. She has expertise in relation to antibodies and other biological product development and screening platforms, as well as immunotherapies, diagnostics, and next-generation sequencing technologies. Her other industry specialities include telecommunications, particularly in relation to standard-essential patents and FRAND (fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory) licensing disputes, media and entertainment, online payment services, retail, and next-generation tobacco products. Coltart’s clients have included American biotech company Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, global pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Novartis, and telecommunications brand Research In Motion (now known as BlackBerry). Before joining Kirkland, Coltart worked as a self-employed legal practitioner for three years. Before that, she trained and worked at Allen & Overy.
