Wyn Jenkins is the managing editor of the insurance and funds group at Newton Media. He has worked as a journalist, editor and publisher for almost 20 years in the business and financial press. His specialist subjects include reinsurance, risk management and risk transfer, hedge funds, corporate finance and general business reporting. His career has spanned working for Euromoney Plc, Newsco Insider, Northcliffe Media and Seren Global Media.
Executive Business Process Services Leader
For the past five years Michael Donnellan has performed a global leadership role in the evolution and development of the business process services (BPS) of DXC Technology and its predecessor companies. He has responsibility for strategy, sales and the growth of BPS across the UK, Ireland and the Middle East. He is a former partner at PwC and Accenture where he held several leadership roles covering business strategy, implementation of enterprise-wide transformation programmes and the exploitation of breakthrough technologies. He has written three books and has lectured extensively at a number of institutions.
Laurent Montador has been the deputy CEO at Caisse Centrale de Réassurance since 2014. He previously occupied senior positions in actuarial and underwriting management on French and international markets for major re/insurance companies. He is a member of the French Institute of Actuaries, the OECD High-Level Advisory Board on the financial management of catastrophic risks, a member of the World Forum of Cat Programs and was a lecturer at the University of Paris at Dauphine. Montador joined CCR in 2009 as director of the natural disaster and guaranty funds department. He leads the current group transformation to a leaner infrastructure in an up to date—potentially disruptive—digital environment.

Steven Haasz was appointed global COO of Axa Corporate Solutions in July 2014. He began his career in 1986 as an engineer with British Aerospace in the UK. Haasz’s insurance career began in 1989 when he joined Bacon & Woodrow. In 2002, he joined Lloyd’s of London, and in 2007, Prudential UK. In 2010 he joined Chubb Insurance Company of Europe as the COO with responsibility for European operations and IT as well as the UK underwriting renewal centre. He also had global responsibility for Chubb’s outsourced operations in India and the Czech Republic.
Chief Underwriting Officer Italy
Elena Rasa is the chief underwriting officer of Zurich Italy, looking after actuarial, underwriting and product development. She is responsible for commercial insurance, retail all lines and direct business. Rasa joined the Generali Group in 2013 as head of global P&C, responsible for pricing and underwriting activities in retail and SME business. She has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance sector. From 2009 to 2012, she was deputy head of pricing and underwriting for the Allianz Group, based in Munich. Within this capacity, she was also the head of technical area in Genialloyd (a direct company of Allianz Italy).

Mario Ricco joined Generali in 2009 and became head of global claims in April 2013 leading the claims community across the Group. Before joining Generali he was a management consultant in the insurance industry primarily focused on claims management. He has 15 years of experience in claims management. He graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and holds a Master in international economics and management from SDA Bocconi (Milan, Italy).

Sudaman T M started his career as a middleware designer developing a complex event processing solution for a major bank in India. After completing his MBA through UCLA he consulted for insurance companies in Scandinavia and Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg and joined Allianz in 2013; he then left to work for ING. Allianz then re-hired Sudaman to set up and head the data office for BeNeLux. His role involves data governance, data management, data architecture vision, business intelligence and reporting, advanced analytics and master data management.

Stefan Van Gansbeke is CISO and recently assigned as director risk, security & legal for CM/MC. With more than 4.5 million members and 6,000 employees, CM/MC is Belgium's largest mutual health insurance fund. CM/MC applies enterprise risk management integrating an ISO 27000-inspired corporate digital security policy. Van Gansbeke is regularly invited for speaking opportunities such as IDC, CIO leadership summit, ISACA, and IQPC-London. He holds a Master’s degree in computer science and is a CISM-certified ISACA member.

Ken Marke has spent more than 30 years in the insurance industry in the UK, Europe and Asia mainly in corporate and strategic development roles. He works for Ageas Group advising on horizon scanning, future trends and blockchain strategies to anticipate and manage longer term disruption. Magdalena Ramada Sarasola is a senior economist at Willis Towers Watson’s Research and Innovation Center with 20 years of experience in R&D and international consulting. She holds a PhD in quantitative economics and finance. She currently focuses on strategic consulting for the insurance industry, especially around emerging markets, insurtech and blockchain. Her main areas of expertise include technology and innovation, multinationals’ internationalisation strategies, emerging markets, global governance, macroeconomic and sociopolitical risks. She has 15 years of teaching experience at European and Latin American universities, has presented at various international conferences and has several publications.

Dan Mines—a digital transformation specialist now employed by Admiral—has seen first-hand how a startup can grow rapidly into a successful business. He collaborates with entrepreneurs to keep Admiral at the forefront of innovation in insurance. His focus is on innovative ‘beyond web’ customer-centred insurance products, delivered where the majority of people now consume the internet. Mines created and developed the UK’s first social-only insurance brand (www.firstcarquote.com) and used AI to build disruptive user journeys in voice and chat, launching the UK’s first quote bot on Facebook Messenger early in 2016.

Nicolas Levillain leads EXIN’s data, machine learning and statistical development. At BearingPoint, he ran the consultancy’s HyperCube research and development centre, building and deploying big data software. Prior to that, he was co-founder of Effiscience, an early innovator in using algorithms to help businesses increase profit and reduce risk by predicting complex events. He also ran customer service operations at General Electric Healthcare across Europe.

Neeraj Maheshwari has 12 years of experience in business development, emerging consumers (aka microinsurance), with his work in the Indian life insurance industry and world’s largest microinsurance market. Maheshwari is currently associated with DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance India, as senior vice president and head of group & partnership distribution, responsible for managing sales and distribution and business development with a key focus on rural and microinsurance space and identifying, building and managing emerging and innovative distribution channels such as rural banks and cooperative institutions, microfinance institutions, small finance and payment banks.

Minh Q. Tran is a venture capitalist and entrepreneur with over 20 years of investing experience. He is the founder of the insurtech capital managed by his investment platform Seed Factory Venture Partners. Formerly, he was general partner at AXA Strategic Ventures and founded AXA Seed Factory (Seed SPV before the creation of @AXAVentures). He is an MBA graduate from INSEAD. He also regularly writes and curates news on entrepreneurship, innovation, and the state of the insurtech industry on his blog The #Insurtech #VC (www.minhtran.fr).

Kevin Baughan is the deputy chief executive of Innovate UK. His role is focused on the development and delivery of Innovate UK’s investment portfolio locally, nationally and globally. Before taking up the position Baughan was Innovate UK’s director of technology and innovation from 2014 to 2016, and chief development officer from 2016 to 2017. He has a track record in leading-edge innovation in the telecommunications industry, including leadership roles with BT, Nortel Networks and Virgin Media where he pioneered the transition to superfast broadband, migration to connected TVs and roll out of wifi across the London Underground ahead of the 2012 Olympics.

Alberto Chierici is a part-qualified actuary, now co-founder and head of product at Spixii. While working for a ‘big four’ consulting firm, he loved insurance as a product but was frustrated by the way it was sold. He set out on a mission to transform the relationship between insurance companies and their customers, first by rethinking the way they interact. At Spixii, he helps insurance companies craft meaningful customer experiences while preparing for new data regulations and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) through technology.

Ivaylo Yosifov has broad experience in different business areas. Starting his career in a manufacturing company in 1990 as head of IT and automation he moved to Bulgarian Telecommunication Company, the biggest Bulgarian telco, becoming CIO of the company in 2005. He joined Generali Bulgaria in 2009; in 2012 he was appointed as CEO and chairman of the management board. After leaving Generali in 2015 Yosifov co-founded a number of startups in the field of insurance and fintech. He is also the executive director of the Bulgarian Club of IT Managers.
Pasquale Saviano is CEO and founder at Photocert, enabling the digital transformation of the insurance industry through the creation of secure automated standards. Photocert’s software solutions easily integrate in an insurance company’s app and web system to reduce costs and time of the claims management process. Passionate about AI and blockchain for automation, at Photocert Saviano is in charge of strategic development and investor relations. An IT graduate with more than 10 years in software solution developments he spent the three years before founding Photocert working on the analysis and development of mission-critical software such as the National Emergency System in Italy.

Erik Abrahamsson is the founder and CEO of Digital Fineprint, a London-based analytics company helping insurers use social media. Before founding Digital Fineprint, he worked in strategy for Twitter in Singapore, and before that as a finance manager at Procter & Gamble in Switzerland. Originally from Sweden, Abrahamsson graduated as valedictorian with a BSc from King’s College London and was awarded a full scholarship for graduate studies at Oxford University. He is also a Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum.
Before co-founding Anorak, David Vanek was chief financial officer at Made.com, the leading UK-based design furniture commerce player in Europe. He joined Made.com shortly after its launch to set up and scale its international expansion into six territories. He also overlooked corporate strategy managing a $60 million series C fundraising process. Prior to joining Made.com, Vanek was an entrepreneur in the online space for five years. He started his career at JP Morgan as a TMT investment banker where he spent eight years working on IPO and M&A transactions.
Karen Sinden is head of business development at CoVi Analytics. She has had 30+ years in the insurance market, with time spent as a CEO of a managing agent, Lloyd’s auction manager and various other roles. When she is not making compliance simple, she is part of the volunteer team at England Golf.
Gabriel Gross is a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 20 years of management experience. He began his career with Oliver, Wyman & Company, before heading various services companies and digital technology startups in France and abroad, in particular the Centre Internet Européen in 1995, the first fixed-price internet provider and the first company specialising in the development of e-commerce sites in France. He is a business angel, founded a software company, and has repeatedly acted as interim manager for turnaround situations in the domain of cleantech, energy, and services. He is a graduate of HEC Paris.

Julio Pernía joined CERN as a programmer in 2002. In 2006 he founded his first insurtech company, out of which his team organically developed Reparanet, the biggest SaaS platform for repair companies in Spain. In 2017, he co-founded Bdeo, a visual claims management platform with AI capabilities to help loss adjusters and insurers during claims processes. As CEO of Bdeo, he has expanded the company’s client portfolio in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and Mexico while earning international awards. In 2012 he founded Director11, a sport management SaaS platform which is currently the most-used product in the Spanish La Liga.

Raffael Maiani is the founder of Insurebot. He started his career in 1984 as an underwriter in life, accident and health at Zurich Switzerland. From 1992 to 1999 he was marketing director at Generali Switzerland. From 2003 to 2004 he was in charge of innovation management at Winterthur Insurance. He built up from scratch two Swiss branches of BNP Paribas Cardif and positioned the company as a benchmark in creditor insurance. He is on the board of a fintech company dealing with precious metals, serves as senior advisor to an MGA and is head Europe of Marriage Insurance.

Jennifer Hill is an advocate for all things entrepreneurial and has spent her career leading innovative companies at the intersection of technology commercialisation, data, privacy and the law. She is the chief operating officer of Remedy Analytics, a healthcare data technology company disrupting the cost and provision of pharmacy benefits to empower and save money for employers and patients, reclaim wasteful spending, and unlock unparalleled insight into population health. She co-founded an ed-tech mobile startup, previously practised tech/startup/M&A law in NYC and Silicon Valley, and led data-centric voter protection efforts in two presidential campaigns.
Gary Nuttall is a keen insurtech specialist who enjoys exploiting new technologies to drive value improvement. He was responsible for driving investigatory work as part of the London Market Target Operating Model and identified opportunities to use blockchain as a major catalyst for change across the market including PoCs to validate feasibility. He has been involved in a small number of other ventures looking to exploit blockchain-related fintech opportunities. He has spent more than 25 years in retail, pharmaceuticals, commodities trading and specialist insurance.

Ranvir Saggu is an experienced insurance executive with more than 25 years’ in-depth experience across composite insurers, managing general agents, brokers and claims third party administrators. His roles have included CEO responsibility for BUs where he has driven growth and performance improvement; and CFO and IT director roles in turnaround businesses. He is accomplished in change management, delivering large transformational programmes and building high-performance teams, with hands-on experience across international businesses, private equity-backed ventures and regional small and medium sized enterprises.
Todd and George Moore founded one of the first insurtech companies in 2000. Their business has since grown to work with one-third of the P&C carriers in the US and Canada. e2Value is a part of the big data revolution helping carriers to better understand and price the structures they insure. The original Chubb Insurance recruited Todd for their, then, unique appraisal service to value the homes and commercial structures they insured. He worked across the US, Canada and the Caribbean pricing and managing risk for some of the most valuable homes and art collections in the world.

Victor Sánchez has more than seven years of experience in management in the US and Spain. He holds a degree in ICT engineering management and a GMP from IESE. He has also worked as an associate professor of new product development at La Salle University.

Elan Nyer is responsible for identifying and securing strategic partnerships to drive long-term growth and expand Nexar’s cellular vehicle-to-vehicle network across numerous industries including insurance, government, telecoms, and automotive. Before joining Nexar, he worked at Mobileye as the Shield+ business development manager responsible for initiating strategic public and private partnerships to promote transportation safety and drafting government regulation relating to vehicle safety. Nyer holds a Bachelor’s degree cum laude from Queen’s College and Master’s degree cum laude from the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy, Herzliya, where he worked as a research and teaching assistant.
